9/15-9/19

Hi Students,
I know you are looking forward to another week of learning! This week we will continue looking at the geography and makeup of Georgia. We will be reviewing what we have learned up to this point and building on that knowledge to further our research about Georgia's plant and animal life. We will complete the webquest listed in our last blog this week. Shortly, we'll be moving from geography to history in this class to study about the first inhabitants of our state and what we can learn from their remains.

In ELA, we'll continue to work on grammar skills. Study your vocabulary: sentences, sentence fragments, subject, predicate, and the parts of speech. Complete all homework assignments!

We'll also be working on our writing skills. We have been studying narrative writing and will continue to work together on how to use sensory details to SHOW and not TELL our readers what we wish to say. We'll move to together through the writing process to finish a piece of narrative writing this week. Graphic organizers are a great way to organize ideas during PREWRITING. Take a look at some different ways to organize your ideas at http://www.writedesignonline.com/organizers/. This week we'll focus on how to use an OUTLINE.
Keep reading your AR books and using your PLOT DIAGRAM graphic organizer to become familiar with the ELEMENTS of LITERATURE. Be prepared to go to the library on Friday; BRING YOUR ID BADGES DAILY!!
Have a good week in Room 106!
Ms. Holden
