Lesson 6-The Revolutionary War-Students will create a graphic organizer "booklet" for notetaking on this section.

Tuesday

Lesson 7-State and Federal Constitutions-Students will create a FLIP CHART for notetaking on this section. Students will fill in a chart on page 64 in cooperative pairs using notes taken.

Students will complete a one page three column graphic organizer for notes on this section and complete the activity on page 76 independently. Students may participate in QUIZ SHOW for review.

Lesson 5-Plot and Plot Development
Students will complete a PLOT DIAGRAM graphic organizer for notes on this lesson. Students will participate in discussion and read aloud from pages 70 and 71. Students will complete the activity on page 71 independently. Students will read page 72 and answer questions on page 73 independently. For the last ten minutes of class, students will read aloud from "Which Way Freedom" and discuss plot development.

Lesson 6 Sound and Figurative Language
Students will complete a WEB MAP on Figurative Language and Sound Devices to define terms. Students will then read aloud from page 74 and 75 for test practice strategies. Students will work in cooperative pairs to complete page 76-77. For the last ten minutes of class, students will read aloud from "Which Way Freedom" and discuss comparisons made in the story using metaphors and similes.

Wednesday

Lesson 7 Creating Tone and Mood
Students will complete a FRAYER MODEL on TONE and MOOD to list examples of each. Students will read aloud from page 78 and complete activities on page 79 with GUIDED PRACTICE. Students will read silently from page 80 and complete comprehension questions on page 81. Students will read aloud with the teacher for the last ten minutes of class from "Which Way Freedom" and discuss the tone and mood set by the author during this story.

Thursday

Students will complete a MIXED REVIEW on pages 82 to 86 in collaborative pairs and review test strategies with the larger class group. Students will read from "Which Way Freedom" and discuss the traits of the main character and minor characters.

Friday

Students will complete the MIXED REVIEW starting on page 87 to 89 in collaborative pairs and review test strategies with the larger class group. Students will read from "Which Way Freedom" or a selection of poetry books provided by their teacher. Students will analyze poems for TONE, MOOD, SOUND DEVICES, and FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE.
